K.I.S.S. (Garden Chairs at the Garden Gallery sale)

 

This will be the last feature in the garden gallery feature series.

You really must attend their sale if you possibly can!  The photos just don’t do it justice.

There were many themed garden chairs at the sale. 

I loved them all, but this one was my very favorite.

I love the tart tin flowers on the back, and the fact that they didn’t cut the seat or alter the patina of this lovely rocker.

I also love the McCoy mixing bowl used as a flower pot.

 

The red watering can on this chair was a nice touch with the painted detail on the legs of this chair.

The cherub and the gold touches are heavenly!

Ok, this one was most intriguing.  You have to look really close to see what it’s made up of.

That’s a pitchfork with the wooden balls on the end of the prongs, a hoe and a shovel.  All tied together with an old tractor seat mounted on a scrolled  base (maybe a vanity stool?). 

It had a perfectly rusty patina.

The clock chair is so elegant.

  

This is so bright and colorful  It made me think at once of Dawn from WackyWhimsy.  She would love this! She’s still on a blogging break and I’m really missing her.

So much detail!

The blue butterflies just jump right out from the pale green chair.

Remember the Window?

You know, the window I took out of the back of the garage.  The one that overlooks the outdoor kitchen.

Yeah, that’s it, the window I totally teased you about with a picture of it missing and no explanation about what it was for.

 

That was oh, ‘bout 2, maybe 3 weeks ago?  (I just checked, it was a full 3 weeks! )

My bad.

Then I went and teased you more about it the following week.  That was 2 weeks ago.

Then……… nothing.

Is there anyone out there still speaking to me?

I’ve just got to stop pulling stunts like that.

Well, life got in the way and it’s still not done but I’ll at least give you a peek at what it is now.

Ready?  You, my readers, will probably not appreciate this one as much as your husbands will.

That is a 40 inch TV screen you are viewing thru the glass protected enclosure built into the (former) window opening.

So now Mike can watch his favorite TV shows  and  sporting events while cooking outdoors.

This is what it looks like at night.

See the outdoor speakers?  Mike hooked them up on Sunday.

He is sooo loving this!

 

Ok, ladies, send the husbands away and gather close.  We need to keep this quiet.

Shhhhhhhhhh….

Including something like this in a project scores me big points, and keeps things on an even keel around here even when his side of the garage looks like this….

instead of this…..

and a certain convertible cannot possibly fit inside it these days.

Got it?  (Let it be our little secret)

The bottom section will be enclosed storage.

This weekend I will paint it and put the backing  (a pegboard door) on the back (inside garage) side of the TV cabinet, add a shelf below and some doors to the lower section.  This section will hold items we want to keep away from weather.

And then maybe, just maybe, I will clean out the garage. 

Not that anyone is complaining about the condition of the garage anymore….

I found a China Cabinet!

 

Edited to add: I’ve chosen this post as my favorite Junkin Find for 2010 to link to Linda’s Junkin Finds Friday party.  Hope you like this find as much as I did. 

I still haven’t officially found a home for this piece, right now it’s in the hall outside the upstairs bathroom, waiting for me to decide if I want to use it for towel storage and such. Maybe in 2011 I’ll write about this one again…..

That’s right, a china cabinet sitting out at the curb with a free sign on it.  I was on my way home from work yesterday and passed by it.  One quick look and I knew I had to go back. 

The glass is missing, but everything else was with it.

Especially the key.

The 2 shelves were sitting on the bottom.

 

I just love the wood cut-out that goes over the glass. 

The 2 tone detailing is understated, yet pretty.

The lines are simple.

A couple scratches along the side are the only thing wrong with this other than the missing glass.

I think I’m in love.

So now I must ‘fess up. 

I have 2 more of these in my storage space right now. 

Does 3 make a collection? 

Maybe I should group them together? ;)

I actually spent $15 for one of them.  Can you guess which one it was?

There  is something about these old cabinets that speaks to me.  It could be because my Gramma  had one at her house and kept all sorts of cool stuff in it (besides dishes). 

We would examine everything through the glass each time we visited, and on rare occasions she would unlock it so we could get a closer look.

Ah, what was it that Proper Prim Deb wrote about in a recent post?

Back With A Few Curb finds

First of all, thank you to everyone who e-mailed to ask if all was ok last week.  I had an unexpected blogging break where I simply could not squeak any blogging time into my schedule. 

Due to a special project at work my workdays were longer than normal, with me leaving home at 5am and in most cases getting home at 10 or 11 pm too exhausted to do anything but eat dinner and go to bed.

The weekend also proved to be hectic and before I knew it an entire week had gone by!

The project is just about done now and things are settling down so I expect to be back to blogging and working on my outdoor kitchen project by the weekend.

In the meantime, here are a few items I have found at the curb recently.  I’ve truly tried to not pick anything up and for the most part have been successful except for a few minor slips here and there.

This little end table was just too cute to leave behind, so I did brake for it.  My son likes this furniture style, so I think I will paint it and send it his way.

He especially likes the legs on this.

 

This piano bench is missing something.

It looks as though someone cut off part of the back.  I wonder why?

 

This little table had 3 legs attached and one on the side.  I’m not especially fond of the legs but love the drop leaf table part.

The copper pieces below were given to me by my ex to find new homes for.  He is remodeling his kitchen and these were no longer wanted.  If Deb (Proper Prim) wants them they are promised to her.

I could not believe my eyes when I saw this cement planter being taken out to the curb on a recent trash day.

There is nothing wrong with it at all!

It is in 2 pieces, top and base.

Let me tell you I braked fast for this one!

This brass floor lamp is especially heavy and ornate.

I love the offset arm on it.  It seems very unusual to me.

 

This rustic piece was probably used in a basement to house cans of paint and oils.  It’s a homemade rough storage unit, but I thought it was pretty cool.

 

This wooden crate type stand was a display rack at work.  They were throwing it out so I grabbed it for temporary tool storage in the garage.

It keeps the tools I have out handy and visible.

That’s all I have time for right now. 

It’s good to be back to blogging again!
